what is a  period on the periodic table

The horizontal rows of the periodic table are known as the Periods.

There is a total of seven different periods in the periodic table.

They are represented by the total number of outer electrons and have the same number of electron shells.

All the periods show the successive filling of the orbitals in the valence shell and the longest period shows the feeling of the d subshell orbitals.

The longest periods  of the periodic table are Period 6 and Period 7.

The elements of the  same period indicate about the same energy levels.
